It’s that time of the year where delivery couriers are rushing around town trying to deliver as many new iPhones to the masses. We already received our iPhone 15 Pro Max which and even completed its review, but we also got another package containing the iPhone 15 Plus. Let’s see what this one brings to the table ahead of its full review.

We picked out the Blue version of the 15 Plus, but as you can see, the color is really washed out to the point that you might easily mistake it for white. Apple really dulled the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus color options this year making the lighter shades look far less exciting. The camera island actually has a more visible blue tint than the rest of the back.

Here is the 15 Plus next to our White Titanium iPhone 15 Pro Max. Can you spot the subtle blue hints on the 15 Plus?

The back now features a frosted glass which is a nice addition and makes the phone easier to hold and less prone to smudges. While we’re covering the back, we should mention the new 48MP main sensor which will output the same 24MP images by default just like the Pro models. We’ll make sure to test out how it fares compared to the 15 Pro models and last year’s 14 series too.

Moving our attention to the front, we have the same sized 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen as the 14 Plus but with a Dynamic Island this time around. The screen is also brighter and can crank out up to 2,000 nits peak brightness outdoors. The 15 Plus certainly feels more modern compared to the notched iPhones of the past.

The phone feels very snappy like all iPhones and the Apple A16 Bionic chip from last year’s Pro iPhones will surely keep it running smoothly for years to come. Let’s not forget the 15 Plus phone’s connector – it’s Type-C (yay!) but it’s still capped at USB 2.0 speeds (boo!). Apple did throw in a nice braided USB-C cable.

That’s all we have for this quick first impression. Our iPhone 15 Plus detailed review is coming soon so stay tuned!

In the meantime, feel free to check out our 15 Pro Max camera experiment where we go over the new 28mm and 35mm shooting modes.

Apple iPhone 15 Plus
